Good news! Gyms can reopen on 24 July. Now we have a frantic dash to ensure everything is ready by then. The government has published a document detailing what needs to be done in order to open. It's along read. I will try and plough through it next week.
My mum came to Sussex to visit her sister, so I went there for lunch. It was a chance for more socialising. Talking face to face is so much better than trying to communicate though the tiny window provided by Zoom on a laptop.
On Saturday night we had another barbecue. We have been lucky with the weather during this lockdown period, but I gather July is on target to be one of the coldest on record. So many months seem to be labelled as extreme; coldest, hottest, driest, whatever. Climate Activists just say "told you so".
On Sunday we walked to Devil's Dyke again (we last went there on 4 May). Today presented quite a contrast to the damp day in May. The pub is now open and the car park was full. Hil and I took a picnic (cheese sandwich and a can of beer) and had no intention of entering the pub. It appears we were not alone with this idea; I have never seen so many people having a picnic in that area. The outside seating and public toilets are closed. I do not get the logic of that at all.
